The traditional concept of an in-house federal data center behind a static firewall is history once and for all. In the age of cloud computing, the externalization of IDs, security, infrastructure and services is inevitable even for the highly regulated federal sector. More agencies, partners, DOD personnel, and citizens are accessing apps across security domains reflecting a transition from a “need to know” to a “need to share” federal environment promoting cross agency cooperation. This is causing a shift from a static to dynamic security perimeter. To regain control, federal CTOs are requiring service provider vendors to build government specific, secure cloud environments offering: high-assurance security, tamper-proof deployments, the ability to seamlessly mix local apps with cloud services, cohesive security policy enforcement, and scalable performance. In this session, Intel presents how an edge security gateway can be used to regain control of cloud security and optimize scaling within the virtualized data center.
