Access control and screening are the two main identity management thrusts of the U.S. Government. Using examples from the Department of Defense, this session will discuss the current and emerging identity management threat scenarios in the access control area, the current capabilities to mitigate these threats, and their effectiveness. Based on those assessments, we will explore what solutions are required and how applied research projects can help close these gaps. The presenters will draw on the analysis from the Identity Management Dynamic Risk Assessment project created by the Center for Applied Identity Management Research (CAIMR). In an effort to document the identity management landscape, the Center has modeled explicit and tacit knowledge from its partners: key thought leaders in government, corporate, law enforcement, and academe.
